Yesterday, during Paris Couture Week, Katy Perry pulled off an unexpected sartorial stunt, generating a buzz not onlyabout her wardrobe choice but also about her soon-to-be-released single. How did she do that? The formula was marketing genius. Perry pulled up to the Ritz Carlton, Paris in a limousine. Stepping outside she revealed her ‘fit for the day: a bright red Balenciaga dress from the brand’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection. The asymmetric dress featured one long sleeve, leaving the other arm bare. The singer paired the dress with sheer black tights and pointed-toe pumps.
As she walked towards the hotel entrance, onlookers, both fans and paparazzi, stared in awe as what seemed to be a never-ending train stretched from the back of her stunning dress. Talk about making an entrance. But wait, there’s more. The train that (reportedly) extended over 100 yards was embossed with words in white. But what did they say? It turns outthat they were, in fact, the lyrics to Perry’s upcoming new song, titled Woman’s World.
The original dress from the Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2024 collection featured a short train. The super-long train was designed especially for Perry, allowing her to make a head-turning entrance in the days leading up to her song’s release. Scheduled to debut on July 11, Perry’s recent sartorial gimmick has generated huge online buzz as fans scour videos of her dress to get a sneak peek at the song lyrics.
