Meet Insofu: not just an emerald, but a legend in the making. In Chopard’s latest Haute Joaillerie collection, raw earth meets refined elegance in a daring display of traceability, craftsmanship, and storytelling. This isn’t just about jewels, it’s about the journey.
It all started not with a dainty sparkle, but with a giant. Back in 2022, during a dazzling moment in Paris, Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s creative powerhouse, unveiled a jaw-dropping, 6,225-carat emerald, freshly unearthed from Zambia. The miners called it Insofu (that’s “elephant” in Bemba) thanks to its trunk-like silhouette and mammoth proportions. Caroline saw something more: potential, poetry, and a bold new chapter in gem history.
Unlike diamonds, emeralds don’t come with neat roadmaps. They’re fragile, temperamental, and full of mystery. Chopard brought in master gem-cutters from India to Geneva, embarking on a nearly year-long love affair with the stone. Each cut was a risk. Each facet, a revelation. And finally: 850 carats of soul-stirring emeralds, bursting with fire, flaws, and one-of-a-kind charm.
Following the first Insofu reveal—a juicy red-and-green parure that lit up Oscars week—Chopard is now unveiling the next act: 15 jaw-dropping creations, from earrings and necklaces to a bracelet and a jewellery watch. Expect the unexpected: organic shapes that mimic nature, bold Art Deco echoes, and colour combinations that sing. These aren’t just jewels—they’re characters in a glittering Gatsby-esque narrative of joy, boldness, and beauty.
At its heart, Insofu is more than a collection—it’s Chopard’s love letter to sustainability, story-driven design, and the kind of audacious glamour that turns heads and hearts.
