EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ADRIAN APPIOLAZA, MOSCHINO’S NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR.

Drumroll, please!
The House of Moschino has today unveiled its latest maestro of chic, the new creative director, Adrian Appiolaza. With a dazzling decade of being the Women's Ready-to-Wear Design Director at Loewe, working alongside J.W. Anderson, and prior, working at Chloé alongside the esteemed Clare Waight Keller, Appiolaza brings a decade of trend-setting tales to the Maison's design world.

Appiolaza is born in 1972 and has weaved his story from the sewing machines in his grandmother’s enchanting tailoring haven. Beyond the runways and the glamour of his illustrious fashion career, Appiolaza emerges as a discerning curator, a custodian of design legacies created by other designers and creative directors. His infatuation began with the avant-garde elegance of Comme des Garçons, and now his collection stands adorned with the rarest gems from the early works of design virtuosos, Yohji Yamamoto, Jean Paul Gaultier, Martin Margiela, Vivienne Westwood, and Issey Miyake.

Adrian Appiolaza is set to unveil his creative debut with the Fall/Winter 2024 Women’s collection on February 22nd. The stage? None other than the iconic Museo della Permanente during Milan Fashion Week, a venue pulsating with the rhythmic heartbeat of style. The Museo della Permanente stands as the hallowed ground where the groundbreaking exhibition “Moschino – X anni di Kaos! 1983-1993” unfolded in 1993, commemorating the first glorious decade of the brand sculpted by the legendary Franco Moschino. Now, in 2024, the echoes of history meet the beats of a new era as Adrian Appiolaza steps into the limelight, ready to weave his narrative into the rich tapestry of Moschino’s legacy. Get ready for a show that transcends time, where the past and future collide in a symphony of style!

“The jackets with 3-D postcards, the dress with a skirt made with twenty bras, the countless trompe-l’oeil: as a creative and a collector, the list of creations by Franco Moschino that have entered the history of fashion is almost endless. The essence of his talent, for me, is to inhabit his time – a mission he carried out with enviable lightness, opening a window for all of us to imagine, in our own way, the future. I am deeply grateful to Massimo Ferretti for allowing me to access the world of Moschino, as well as entry into a House whose walls exude a history that I am eager to hear. I am ready to transport the Maison into a new chapter, with a theatrical touch, in the pure style of Moschino” says Adrian Appiolaza.
