Since the time digital retail has existed, there has been an ongoing debate about shopping in person vs. shopping online. If you ask us, nothing really beats browsing the latest drops from your favorite brands from the comfort of your couch as you sip on a cuppa in your PJs. The only drawback? Not being able to see and feel the product to assess whether it meets your requirements. But what if we told you that it is now possible to do so?
Yes, online shopping is undergoing a revolution, courtesy of Ian Curtis and 8th Wall. 8th Wall is a leading computer vision software company that enables the creation of interactive and immersive content without the need for a dedicated app. Their augmented reality platform, utilized by developers and creative studios globally, supports billions of devices. 8th Wall has been instrumental in producing WebAR experiences for major brands, including Nike, Porsche, Sony Pictures, Burger King, and many others across diverse industries such as retail, automotive, and entertainment.
Curtis, an Augmented Reality Developer at 8th Wall, has developed a real-time AR prototype to enhance online shopping. Using AR glasses, shoppers can now see products pop-up out of their screen, allowing them to make informed retail decisions. In creating the prototype, he adeptly utilized image targets, smoothly incorporating them with an additional mobile device to elevate the shopping experience.
