ARE WE ABOUT TO SEE MEN WEARING LONG NECKLACES?

The necklace is about to drop lower.

Younger men have grown up seeing jewelry as part of everyday dressing, not a departure from it. What designers are doing now is formalizing that instinct. The necklace becomes part of the silhouette, much like a belt or a shoe choice, rather than an afterthought.

In 2025, long necklaces became a fixture of womenswear. They cut through fluid dresses and tailored looks alike, adding length, weight, and intention. For Fall/Winter 2026, that same logic has entered menswear.

At Milan Men’s Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026, long necklaces were not uncommon on the runway. They were integrated into the looks at show like Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Domenico Orefice, among others.

The message was clear: men’s fashion is making room for adornment again. Long necklaces, however, did not just suddenly pop up on the menswear runways. One can trace their origins back to the Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Week, where brands like Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten, and Emporio Armani showcased the bijoux.

A long chain or pendant draws the eye downward, elongating the torso and easing the visual weight of tailoring, outerwear, or knitwear. The easiest way to style it is by keeping things simple. A single necklace, worn over a fine knit, T-shirt, or open shirt, does most of the work. It should sit low enough to feel intentional, not hover at the collarbone.

Styling-wise, long necklaces work best when they are not competing with other accessories. Skip heavy rings or stacked chains. Let one piece define the look. Materials matter too. Metals read sharper against tailoring, while leather or braided straps might go better with relaxed cords. Both have a place, depending on the wardrobe.

If the past few seasons have taught us anything, it is that menswear evolves quietly. The long necklace is a small change with visible impact. It reshapes how clothes sit and how masculinity is expressed. Less armor, more ease. And that is precisely why it works now.
