Not-so Quiet Luxury: The 5 Defining Jewellery Trends of 2025

With their all-encompassing “maximalist” sentiment, SS25 runways bid a firm adieu to “quiet luxury” and
saw designers redeem their flair for loud contemporary accessories. Saint Laurent, Chanel and Miu Miu
positioned jewellery as the focal point of their collections, with Chemena’s Kamali’s Chloé ensemble
revealing a return to statement charm and tassel jewellery, marking the renaissance of the bohemian
aesthetic. As fashion’s fixations permeate the world of jewellery, we explore 2025’s defining jewellery
trends on the cusp of dominating your jewellery “must-have” list.

BROOCHES: THE REINCARNATION OF A LAPEL’S COMPANION

Jewellery’s dark horse, brooches, present wearers the opportunity to customise their outerwear as well as offering a means of breathing new life into a look that lacks pizzaz. The accessory holds the ability to
instantaneously elevate a look as seen in Joanna Oritz’s mid-gallop horse pins as well as Matthieu Blazy’s swansong collection for Bottega Vanetta featuring frog brooches mid-leap. Deemed as a growing red carpet favourite perching on the lapels of attendees, Adrian Brody’s was one of many portraying the power of the brooch with his showcasing of a jaw-dropping Elsa Jin piece at this year’s Golden Globes.

PEARLS: A NEW ERA FOR THE CLASSIC

A royal favourite and a Jackie O. staple, the classic string of pearls was masqueraded on SS25 runways.
The unwavering pursuit of reintroducing the luminous sphere as a modern classic, saw designers
experiment with its traditional silhouette, even transcending traditional jewellery categories. From
Moschino’s play on design with their extended earring-meets-necklace pieces to Chloé’s hyperbolically
long pendants, this season’s pearls have everything but a “traditional” sensibility about them.

BANGLES: STYLING’S SECRET REMEDY

Arguably, jewellery aficionados’ mastery of jewellery styling lies in the element of intrigue that follows
when the perfect bangle is selected to complete a particular aesthetic. Seen on Sacai and Balmain runways to name but a few, the trend lends the wearer the ability to achieve a visually loud aesthetic with a single statement piece (the one-and-done method) or through the artful endeavour of layering pieces for visual impact.

BEADS: AN INJECTION OF COLOR

Think vibrant, think bold. The accessory in question’s forecasted popularity was heavily foreshadowed by
FW24’s bohemian ready-to-wear collections. Today, chunky beads’ have fully remerged as a highly
coveted contender in one’s styling arsenal. Possibly, one of the most vivid depictions of the imminent
craze is that of Ralph Lauren – relaxed tailoring juxtaposed by layered beads unveil the versatility of the
trend (even potentially making it to the boardroom).

TASSEL DETAILS: A VISUAL DYNAMISM TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE

Fashion’s en vogue “fringe” trend sees its jewellery equivalent come to life through tassel design elements as seen on Balmain’s statement pendants and Chloé’s chandelier-reminiscent earring. Still, Valentino’s unfathomably long ornamental earrings, (outdoing the limits of the former “shoulder sweeper” craze), is perhaps the most powerful sighting of the trend showcasing a hypnotic dynamism to the elongated silhouette.
