Coinciding with Dubai Watch Week, Hermès is delighted to unveil Slim D’Hermès Hippocampe, and we’re absolutely obsessed!

Hermès dives into the depths of imagination with its latest collectible timepiece, the Slim d’Hermès Hippocampe, a limited-edition duo that transforms watchmaking into pure artistic reverie. Designed around illustrator Stuart Patience’s whimsical seahorse, each dial becomes a miniature oceanic tableau brought to life through two painstaking crafts: engraving and leather marquetry.

The Slim d’Hermès line, first introduced in 2015, has always embraced understatement, but here its clean geometry becomes a canvas for exuberant artisanal expression. The watch’s white-gold case, an elegant 39.5 mm, frames a dial where the seahorse’s curves are first traced and sculpted by the engraver, then meticulously filled with a mosaic of leather fragments shaved down to an extraordinary 0.5 mm thickness.

Piece by piece, these vividly colored slivers are assembled by hand, forming a creature that seems to shimmer its way into being.
Inside beats the ultra-thin Hermès H1950 self-winding movement, its hand-bevelled bridges and signature H-decor visible through the sapphire case-back.

But the poetic engineering doesn’t end there. The straps, offered in béton or perle Swift calfskin, extend the house’s leather mastery to the wrist, echoing the playful colorwork of the dial.
Released in two numbered series of only 24 pieces each, the Hippocampe editions feel less like accessories and more like wearable objets d’art: Tiny companions shaped by time, imagination, and the irreplaceable touch of Hermès artisan.
