This Ramadan, Van Cleef & Arpels has partnered with Emirati calligraphy artist Fatima Alketbi on a unique project. Alketbi’s passion for Arabic calligraphy and commitment to preserving the Emirati cultural heritage align perfectly with Maison’s dedication to craftsmanship and artistic expression. Together, they have unveiled a stunning artwork, offering a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of Ramadan.
Equipped with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Zayed University in Dubai and her deep connection to the UAE and its culture, Alketbi’s work serves as a creative bridge between her Emirati roots and the contemporary world.
Alketbi has a penchant for exploring a diverse range of materials, including kohl and palm fronds. For the Van Cleef & Arpels x Fatima Alketbi collaboration, the artist made use of palm fronds to create a thought-provoking Ramadan artwork. Inspired by the Van Cleef & Arpels legacy and her rich Emirati heritage, Alketbi’s artwork uses the clever placement of palm fronds to create Arabic calligraphy.
