Men, women and children in Afghanistan have been deeply affected and displaced by the current conflict, and young women and girls are feeling especially vulnerable in this urgent crisis. ‘Women for Afghan Women’ have worked for the past two decades to protect the rights of women and girls in the country by providing shelter and emergency resources to thousands of women, children, and families across the country.
Now, there’s a new charity initiative that will give you the chance to do your part. Rosie Lillis Communications launched ‘Jewellers for Afghanistan’, bringing together 25 British independent jewellers to donate a piece of jewellery as part of an online auction. Funds raised through the initiative will be given to Women for Aghan Women and will help evacuate and provide urgent resources, shelter and care to vulnerable women, children and families during the ongoing crisis.
“As a new mum to a little girl, I am utterly horrified by the devastating scenes in Afghanistan and the grim reality that women of all ages are facing in the country,” explains Rosie. “The threat to safety, basic rights to work and education (not to mention lives) is so real and I want to help in whatever way I can to try and support those protecting the women and children most at risk.”
In collaboration with Roseberys London Fine Art Auctioneers, the initiative will feature designs from iconic British jewellers including Solange, Annoushka, Theo Fennell, Pippa Small and Shaun Leane as well as emerging talent including Jessie Thomas, Bear Brooksbank, Liv Luttrell and Christopher Thompson Royds.
The full list of jewellery brands features Annoushka, Bear Brooksbank, BOOCHIER, By Pariah, Christopher Thompson-Royds, Gee Woods, Georgina Boyce, Humphrey Butler, Jessie Thomas, Liv Luttrell, Minka Jewels, Otiumberg, Pippa Small, Rachel Boston, Rebus, Rosa de la Cruz, Ruth Tomlinson, Shaun Leane, Solange Azagury Partridge, Sophie Keegan, Sophie Theakston, Tada and Toy, Tessa Packard, Theo Fennell and Theodora Warre.
The official online bidding will run from September 27 to October 4, 2021. The online bidding platform is RoseberysLive.
