London Fashion Week will be entirely fur-free

A win for the animals
London Fashion Week just made a major announcement regarding the use of fur on the runway...

Late last week, Burberry announced that it would stop using fur in any future collections and it seems that all the UK-based fashion brands showing during London Fashion Week are in agreement.

According to WWD, the British Fashion Council (BFC) announced that none of the brand scheduled to show during the week-long fashion extravaganza “plans to show fur in their collections.” The announcement comes after the BFC conducted a survey of all the participating designers for its Positive Fashion initiative which encourages “designers to make ethical choices when it comes to their selection of materials and supply chain,” it said in a statement on Friday.

The announcement is the latest in a string of pro-animal moves from within the fashion industry, with Zara, ASOS, Gucci and Ralph Lauren declaring they will no longer use a range of sensitive materials.

It’s not just the fashion industry that’s championing the movement, either. Find out more about how California just passed a major law concerning cosmetic product testing on animals.
