Yohji Yamamoto launches debut english e-commerce platform

Renowned Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto has just launched his e-commerce platform in English for the first time. Here's what it means for consumers...

It’s well-known amongst fashionphiles that Japan has some of the world’s coolest designers, however it can be difficult to get your hands on the pieces if you’re not living in or visiting the country. Yohji Yamamoto is one such brand, and now the celebrated designer is making his pieces available to the world via his new English-language e-commerce platform.

Yamamoto first launched e-commerce in July, however up until now it was only available in Chinese. This new launch, called The Shop Yohji Yamamoto, brings together all brands under the designer’s umbrella, reports WWD, which includes “Yohji Yamamoto Produce, which reproduces his signature hits, entry-level and web-only brand S’Yte, the genderless Ground Y line, luxury accessories from discord Yohji Yamamoto and casualwear offerings Yohji Yamamoto + Noir, and Y’s.” It also stocks Limi Feu, the brand designed by Yohji’s daughter Limi. 

S’Yte and Ground Y have only been available to purchase in Japan up until now, meaning the platform opens up a whole new audience for the labels.
