The Hacking Project between Gucci and Balenciaga continues

'This is not a Gucci bag'
It's Balenciaga's turn – Demna Gvasalia has switched the Gs for Bs at the next instalment of the Hacking Project between Gucci and Balenciaga...

Following from Gucci’s captivating Aria show, Balenciaga continued the Hacking Project between both Kering powerhouses by revealing a selection of leather goods during its Clones Spring ’22 collection show today.

Whilst Balenciaga’s signature pieces (think shoulder-shrug parkas, thigh-high leggings boots and Hourglass bags) were reimagined in Gucci logos, Demna Gvasalia has swapped Gs for Bs in the Florentine house’s iconic diamond monogram through a selection of signature leather goods and accessories. The collection even featured one weekender with the tag “This Is Not a Gucci Bag” – we’re obsessed.

The Spring ’22 collection show kicked off with Eliza Douglas, an artist who has either opened or closed every show and appeared in most campaigns for the past several years. Clones of the artist strutted the runway in 44 looks for women and men, fronting signature pieces including the parka and the puffer (with shortened sleeves and lengthened collars), tracksuits, oversized hoodies, eveningwear and achingly cool footwear styles, too.
