Kate Middleton kicks off royal tour of Pakistan with an homage to Princess Diana

An uncanny resemblance
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's five-day tour is their most challenging yet…

Hot off the heels of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s action packed 10-day royal tour in South Africa, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have touched down in Islamabad for a tour of their own, marking the first UK royal visit to the country in 13 years since Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, travelled to the country in 2006.

Arriving at the Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan, Kate Middleton dazzled in a traditional Pakistani traditional shalwar kameez dress custom-made by Catherine Walker, the same British designer who made the lovely blue chiffon dress that Princess Diana wore for her visit to Pakistan back in 1996.

The royal couple commenced their five-day visit with a tour of the capital’s Islamabad Model College for Girls, touring classrooms and posing with some of the young students.

The Duke and Duchess’s first official visit to the country is meant to pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan, “but will largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today — a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation,” according to Kensington Palace.

The visit, which will span over 1000km of the country, will see Kate and William travel off with the leafy capital Islamabad making their way to the bustling city of Lahore, making their way to the mountainous countryside in the North as well as the rugged border regions to the West. The royal couple is also set to meet with prime minister, Imran Khan, who was a friend of Princess Diana.

Now, everything you need to know about what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are up to next.
