Gucci’s Alessandro Michele is still obsessed with the old world as per Pre-Fall 2019

Gucci's Pre-Fall 2019 campaign is giving us all the homely feels right now...

Alessandro Michele, Creative Director for Gucci, has an evident thing for the past. His dialogue with the old world has manifested itself in many instances. Most recently, his choice to stage Cruise 2020 in Rome’s Capitoline Museums proves that he is just as interested in merging modern and antiquated dialogue in the name of fashion. 

And now, the campaign for Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2019 further highlights the house’s old meets new trope. According to Fashionista, the campaign, which was photographed by Glen Luchford, “pays homage to the ancient Greek tradition of gathering for the purpose of enjoying a banquet, while listening to music, dancing, chatting and have a plain old good time with friends. But instead of antiquated Greek getups, the campaign’s models (many of which have tattoos aplenty and ’80s grunge hairstyles) are clad in Michele’s eclectic hodgepodge of bright-patterned tailored suits, caftans and tunics.”

The collection sees key pieces like patterned coats and blazers, a series of tracksuits and a very diverse range of footwear.
