Stella McCartney has just expanded her eponymous fashion line by dipping into the men’s department and marking her debut in swimwear.
Already designing a collection for women, the new range is perfect for those resort-ready travellers among you and includes a selection of boxers, briefs, rash guards, cover-ups, towels and beach totes made in Kenya.
Known for her sustainable approach towards fashion, Stella (who was spotted with Buro 24/7’s Founder Mira Duma at the Future Tech Lab movement event in October) has used organic cotton, recycled nylon fabrics and some sustainable materials made in Kenya to create the pieces.
Along with animal and tropical prints that were first seen in the designer’s Spring/Summer ’18 show in Paris for fashion week, the collection is completed in a fun colour palette — think lavender, yellow, pink and green.
According to WWD, Stella described the new venture saying: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to broaden the men’s collection. I wanted to explore an area of a man’s wardrobe that is important and is perhaps slightly under-designed at times. And I wanted to bring the personality of the man into swimwear, so the relationship of the man and the woman on the beach has consistency.”
