2024 MET GALA: CREATIVITY BLOOMED ON THE RED CARPET AS CELEBRITIES ARRIVED IN STYLE.

Who Wore What to the 2024 Met Gala.
From cascading gowns adorned with delicate blooms and nature-inspired looks to some very intelligent interpretations of the theme, the 2024 Met Gala had it all and more.

Every year, like clockwork, the Who’s Who of Hollywood, fashion, and beyond flock to New York on the first Monday of May for the grand extravaganza that is the Met Gala. Nothing short of a spectacle, fashion’s biggest night out promises an unparalleled display of glamour, creativity, and innovation as designers and celebrities alike push the boundaries of style and imagination. And the 2024 Met Gala was no different.

Celebrating the Costume Institute’s exhibition ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, the theme for attendees was declared as ‘Garden of Time’ inspired by JG Ballard’s 1962 short story. As celebrities followed one another up the green carpet that was laid out on the Metropolitan Museum’s famous stairs to reflect this year’s theme, we couldn’t help but stare at the floral extravaganza unfolding on our screens.

As the night commenced, Emma Chamberlain was the first to catch our eye. She waltzed in, wearing a sheer brown lace Jean Paul Gaultier number. Putting a dark twist–both literally and figuratively–on the ‘Garden of Time’ theme, Chamberlain described her look as “decaying.”

Zendaya in Maison Marginal by John Galliano

Zendaya, on the other hand, served not one but two blossoming looks. Arriving early, the style icon made a head-turning journey in a peacock-hued Maison Margiela look by John Galliano, described by her stylist Law Roach as “referential,’ citing its inspiration as a 1999 Dior gown. The look featured grape and hummingbird detailing and a veiled fastener placed on her head. Ultra-thin brows, smokey eyes, and a dark lip completed Zendaya’s first look.

Zendaya in Vintage Givenchy

As the evening neared its conclusion, Zendaya delighted fans by making a surprise return at the foot of the stairs. Dressed in a stunning black from John Galliano’s Givenchy era, her look featured a corseted lace-up bodice, extravagant off-the-shoulder sleeves, and a structured peplum hemline. Adding to the ensemble was a fascinator resembling a bouquet crafted by Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen in 2006.

Gigi Hadid in Thom Browne

Speaking of blossoming florals, one can hardly get over Gigi Hadid‘s stunning Thom Browne look. Her ensemble featured a custom corset dress adorned with an exquisite array of over two million white micro bugle beads and all-over yellow rose appliqués.

Met Gala debutant Tyla etched her name in history with a dress molded out of the sand. Inspired by the ‘Sands of Time,’ the Balmain gown, according to Creative Director Olivier Rousteing, is designed to be worn only once, essentially making it a “Sleeping Beauty” after the event.
