Just in: There’s a new logo that will represent the UAE

Designed by an Emirati
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum took to his Twitter account to share the exciting news...

Following 2019’s ‘Year of Tolerance’, the UAE has officially declared this year as ‘2020: Towards the next 50’, as it marks a major milestone for the UAE. 2020 will be home to the Expo 2020, as well as will focus on the country’s preparation for the next 50 years — with the UAE’s 50th anniversary falling in 2021.

With that being said, the country has chosen its newest logo, entitled 7 lines.

Complete in the colours of the UAE flag, the shape of the country and seven lines to symbolise the Emirates, the new logo was chosen by the country’s residents and for every vote cast, the UAE pledged to plant a tree and accordingly, 10 million trees will be planted in exchange for their votes.

The designs were created by 49 Emirati artists from across the seven emirates and today, the winning vote was unveiled by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid tweeted: “Today, my brother Mohammed bin Zayed and 49 Emirati creators launched the new visual media identity for the UAE, an identity that represents our map, our escalated ambitions, the seven emirates that are racing the world and seven founders who immortalised themselves in our history.”
