Earlier this month, the UAE, the world and the fashion industry, mourned the loss of Founder of London-based brand Qasimi and son of the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, as he sadly passed away in London.
Now, his legacy will continue as a charitable foundation has been established in memory of the UAE royal.
Sheikh Khalid’s father, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree to establish the foundation under his son’s name: Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Humanitarian Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organisation and will be funded by donations and grants.
“The foundation aims to commemorate the blessed anniversary of the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, and to continue to realise his vision and aspirations in humanitarian work,” Wam, the UAE state news agency, reported.
Its work will include “sustainable programmes and projects that serve humanity in all fields at the local and international levels, providing assistance to support and improve the healthcare, education and infrastructure sectors, and any other objectives assigned to the foundation by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees,” the announcement read.
Not only is this a fitting way to honour Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, but will also highlight his humanitarian work.
