Back in January (is it just us or does that feel like years ago now?), the Queen announced Meghan Markle‘s very first patronages. Among them, was women’s empowerment charity Smart Works which helps underprivileged and vulnerable women get back into the workforce.
And it seems the Duchess of Sussex has had a huge impact in just a few short months. According to royal commentator Omid Scobie, the charity has helped close to 50 per cent more women this February compared to last.
The Duchess paid a secret visit to the charity earlier this week (despite being on maternity leave) to celebrate the success, with Scobie reporting, “Still busy! Duchess Meghan this morning attended a meeting with Smart Works (and CEO Kate Stephens) at St Charles Hospital. The charity has been growing rapidly since Meghan became patron. In February they helped 187 women in London alone (47% more than this time last year).”
Who run the world indeed…
