It's been a big topic across several news headlines across the globe and now the UAE is tackling gender equality head on...

Fresh from being named the world’s most generous country for the fifth year running, the United Arab Emirates is going through some more major changes.

Overnight, the UAE approved a new law which will guarantee equal pay for both men and women.

Equal pay has been a major issue in several countries across the globe but the UAE has listened and will ensure that women have the same equal opportunities as their male counterparts.

According to state news agency WAM, the law on Equal Wages and Salaries for Men and Women will “further empower women to lead future national strategies and ambitious projects.”

Announcing the positive news via Twitter, the Vice President of the UAE, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (who is an active member of social media) said: “With the force of law and wisdom, we do not want any exception in providing equal opportunities between the sexes. Our Constitution is among the equal rights and duties of the sexes and we seek to elaborate, enforce and guarantee this constitutional right through the new law.”
