The poster for Maleficent 2 has been unveiled. And it’s safe to say, we’re pretty excited about it.
Angelina Jolie, who starred in the first Disney installement, was tipped to reprise the role back in 2016 but since then, things have been pretty hush hush about it. Until Disney released the poster via Twitter over the weekend, stating: “Angelina Jolie returns in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Coming to theaters October 18, 2019.”
We weren’t expecting the film to be out so soon, especially with all the radio silence surrounding it, but apparently filming wrapped in August 2018.
And, we might be getting ahead of ourselves a little bit but notice the time of year of its release – October – a prime period for pre-Oscar buzz, oh and also Halloween.
Now, the first film explored Maleficent‘s back story, the events and betrayals that lead her to become a vengeful character. In this one now, Disney says the sequel explores “the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon-to-be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within”.
The film sees Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville reprise their roles. And the sequel also introduces new cast members Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein, Harris Dickinson and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Now, ICYMI, the trailer for GoT season 8 is out.
