This week, #BuroSpotlights Lebanese designer Rouba G.
Born in the vibrant city of Beirut, Lebanon, Rouba was surrounded by a rich culture and art from a young age. Her passion for design was evident early on, leading her to pursue Graphic Design, which she completed in 2010. But Rouba’s creative journey was just beginning. In 2012, she expanded her expertise by earning a degree in Fashion Design, a move that marked her initial foray into the fashion industry.
Determined to deepen her understanding of the fashion business, Rouba traveled to London, enrolling at the prestigious Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design to study the Business of Fashion. This experience provided her with invaluable insights into the commercial side of the industry, complementing her design skills with a robust business acumen.
Not one to rest on her laurels, Rouba’s quest for knowledge took her to Spain in 2020, where she pursued a Master’s degree in Fashion and Luxury Management at the Global Business School Barcelona.
Rouba’s journey was not without its challenges. Her daring and unconventional designs, which boldly defied traditional fashion norms, were often met with rejection. Yet, these setbacks only strengthened her resolve. Rather than conforming, Rouba embraced her unique vision, channeling her experiences and defiance into the creation of her brand, Rouba.G, in 2016.
Rouba.G is a manifestation of Rouba’s philosophy and artistic sensibilities. Her collections blend high-level technical skills and aesthetic finesse, turning everyday objects and mundane concepts into extraordinary garments. For Rouba, each piece is a canvas, a medium to convey stories and messages. Her designs challenge the status quo, pushing the boundaries of what fashion can be.
One of the defining features of Rouba’s work is her ability to see beauty in the ordinary. She transforms the mundane into the magnificent, creating pieces that are not just visually stunning but also intellectually stimulating.
