Rami Kadi’s latest exhibition, Blooming Universe, on view at Diana Ghandour Studio in Beirut, is not a detour from fashion but an extension of it. Presented in collaboration with Belvedere Art Space, the show continues the designer’s exploration of cosmic storytelling that began with his 2023 debut collection Highway to Heaven. Across 22 intricate works, Kadi pushes the language of couture beyond the body and into the realm of fine art, where fabric, crystal, and thread construct galaxies instead of gowns.
The exhibition feels like a constellation in motion. Pieces such as Cosmic Waterfall shimmer with glass beads that cascade beyond their frames, while Chromium, composed of nine chromatic panels, shifts color like an aurora trapped on canvas. Each artwork draws on techniques that Kadi honed in his atelier — embroidery, crystal appliqué, and meticulous layering — but here they take on new meaning. The materials once used to ornament dresses now narrate the evolution of light itself. Nowhere is this more evident than in The Four Seasons of Light, a luminous centerpiece that charts the passage from darkness to rebirth through gradients of radiance.
At the heart of Blooming Universe stands The Cosmic Console, a collaborative installation with interior designer Diana Ghandour. Functional yet sculptural, it bridges art and design with the precision of a couturier’s hand and the imagination of a dreamer. This interplay between disciplines of fashion, art, and architecture define Kadi’s growing influence as a multidisciplinary creative rather than a designer confined to runway cycles.
What makes Blooming Universe remarkable is not its scale but its conviction. It reflects a designer who has learned to translate embellishment into emotion, couture into concept. Kadi’s creative cosmos hums with the quiet confidence of an artist unafraid to look beyond the dress, into the infinite.
