Following the success of the inaugural edition of Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2021 and the Richard Mille Art Prize, which crowned Nasser Alzayani as its first winner, the Swiss Watchmaking brand and the museum are coming together to continue to foster the region’s booming art scene.
Giving local artists across the GCC a platform to be seen and heard, the Richard Mille Art Prize 2022 falls in line with Louvre Abu Dhabi’s 5th anniversary and this year, will challenge artists to reflect on the powerful terms: Icon and Iconic. Highlighting its commitment to supporting regional artists and talents, Peter Harrison, CEO of Richard Mille EMEA, says the Art Prize “reinforces our avid admiration for the world of contemporary art.”
Guests are invited to propose artworks that engage with the concept of ‘the icon’ and the deadline for submissions is set for July 31. Speaking of the upcoming award, Manuel Rabaté, Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi, said: “This year’s exhibition and prize seek to illuminate the notions of ‘Icon’ and ‘Iconic’, complementing the museum’s development and success throughout these past five years. As part of a mutual, long-term commitment with Richard Mille, Louvre Abu Dhabi continues its mission of championing contemporary artistic talent within the UAE and the GCC, while connecting the museum to its territory.”
