There’s a new beating heart for art in the Middle East as the region’s talents and creatives are finding a new love of arts and culture in different forms of expression. Every year, the UAE (more specifically, Dubai) hosts a unique fair, titled Art Dubai, that has captured the imagination of the international art world.
Art Dubai have long put the spotlight on talents and galleries from the MENASA region and since its 14th edition was cancelled earlier this year due to the global health crisis, the next format of Art Dubai (set to take place in March 2021) will come with a programme distributed across different cities in celebration of the UAE’s 50th anniversary.
The next edition will also mark the first time we’ll get to see the vision of Art Dubai’s newly announced Regional Director, Hala Khayat.
With an impressive amount of knowledge in the Middle East’s top modern artists, collectors, galleries and artist estates, Khayat brings her skills and expertise from Christie’s Dubai (she’s been an integral part of Christie’s since its inception in 2007) and will now work to develop strategies for local and regional collectors’ engagement at Art Dubai.
A scholar on Arab and Middle Eastern Modern and Contemporary art, Hayat’s extensive expertise will drive the growth and development of the industry and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table.
Below, discover more about Khayat and her plans for Art Dubai 2021…
