It's time to give your beauty regimen a face lift.

The beauty dos and, more importantly, the don'ts to get you through the UAE winter.

Winter in the UAE isn’t your typical cold season of bundled-up coats and frosty air––in fact, it’s quite the opposite. But that doesn’t mean your skin and hair won’t feel the difference. As we transition to the cooler months, it’s time to rethink your skincare and haircare routine. Think thicker moisturizers, hydrating lip oils, hair masks, and anything that enhances moisture.

Discover Buro247ME’s editor-approved guide to winter beauty products.

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE

As the temperatures dip (even slightly), your skin will crave more hydration. The cooler temperatures, constant air conditioning, and lack of humidity can strip your skin of moisture, leaving it feeling dry and tight. It’s time to swap out your lightweight summer lotions and masks for richer, creamier formulas. Look for moisturizers packed with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides to lock in moisture and maintain your skin’s natural barrier.

PAMPER YOUR UNDER EYES

The delicate skin around your eyes is one of the first places to show signs of aging. A hydrating eye cream can help smooth fine lines and keep this area looking bright and plump. Look for formulas with peptides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E to provide extra nourishment.

HYDRATING CLEANSERS, PLEASE

Swap out your summer foaming formulas for a gentler, hydrating cleanser that won’t strip away. Opt for cream-based or oil cleansers that will clean your skin without stripping away its natural oils. These formulas not only remove impurities but also help to lock in moisture, ensuring your skin remains soft and supple.

EXFOLIATE, BUT GENTLY

Don’t let dead skin cells dull your glow. Regular exfoliation is vital to keeping your skin fresh and smooth, even in winter. Opt for a gentle exfoliator that sloughs away dead skin without stripping it of essential oils. Chemical exfoliants with AHAs or BHAs are perfect for this, helping to reveal brighter, more radiant skin.

BOOST YOUR BODY CARE ROUTINE

Your face isn’t the only area that needs TLC during the UAE winter. Dry air can leave your body feeling rough and flaky, so–if you haven’t already–it’s time to invest in a nourishing body butter or oil. Shea butter, cocoa butter, or coconut oil-based products can help keep your skin silky smooth. Apply right after your shower when your skin is still damp to lock in maximum moisture.

SPF IS YOUR BESTIE, ALWAYS

Winter in the UAE is an outdoor season. With cooler temperatures, it’s time for beach parties, pool days, and al fresco brunches, making SPF your bestie. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to keep your skin protectedwhile you’re soaking up the sun. For those poolside moments, water-resistant sunscreens are key. If you plan on splashing into the ocean, planet-friendly sunscreens are a must!

INVEST IN A LIP TREATMENT

The combination of dry winter air and constant air conditioning can wreak havoc on your lips, leaving them dry and chapped. A regular lip balm might not be enough, so now’s the time to switch to a more intense lip treatment or overnight mask. Ingredients like lanolin, beeswax, and honey will deeply nourish and repair, ensuring your lips stay soft andsmooth. Tinted lip oils are also a great way to gloss your pout while providing hydration.

THE SECRET TO GLOSSY HAIR

Sick of battling dry, frizzy hair? We have just the solution for you. Combat winter dryness with a deep-conditioning mask that transforms your hair from frizzy to fabulous. Think of it as a spa day for your strands, keeping them lush and vibrant despite the dry air.

Additionally, switch to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Look for ingredients like argan oil, keratin, and shea butter to help restore moisture and prevent frizz. If your hair tends to get extra dry, a leave-in conditioner or hair oil can keep your locks soft and manageable throughout the day.

KEEP A FACE MIST HANDY

A moisturizing face mist can be a lifesaver in winter. Keep a mist in your bag or at your desk to spritz throughout the day for instant hydration. Look for mists with ingredients like rose water, glycerin, or aloe vera to soothe and refresh your skin on the go.
