On February 11th and 12th, 2025, Prada is bringing the eleventh edition of Prada Mode to the MiZa neighborhood in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, and it’s not just a luxury event. It’s a deeply immersive cultural experience that challenges the dominance of digital modernity with something more tactile, more human. And I, for one, am intrigued.
This edition marks Prada’s third collaboration with renowned multidisciplinary artist Theaster Gates. His vision? A space that embraces duality: elegant yet austere, traditional yet forward-thinking. A cylindrical structure will bisect the venue, offering two contrasting experiences: an intimate, introspective acoustic space within and a lively, energetic world of live performances and DJ sets outside. It’s a clever architectural intervention, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out in real-time.
Curated by Myrna Ayad, the cultural programming will shine a light on Arab women’s artistic contributions, featuring discussions and performances from local and regional talent. Meanwhile, Gates and NTS will craft the musical atmosphere, ensuring a dynamic sonic journey.
Foodies, take note! Chef Salam Daqqaq will serve up a menu celebrating Abu Dhabi’s diverse diasporic communities. For the first two days, the space will be a private members-only club, opening to the public on February 13th and 14th. Count me in!
