Hosting it’s 10th Edition this year, Dubai Design Week 2024 is back. A space where the region’s creative minds are bringing their A-game. From November 5th to 10th this year, the Dubai Design District is transforming into a playground of innovation, hosting over 500 designers, architects, and visionaries from around the world.

This year, it’s all about pushing the boundaries from groundbreaking sustainability solutions to designs that meld technology with artistic flair. Whether you’re hunting for avant-garde inspiration or just there for the eye candy, you can’t miss out these must-see installations!

NEO-MAJLIS BY FUTURE BEDOUIN

Inspired by the nomadic Bedouin ethos, Neo-Majlis is a futuristic inflatable pavilion. Its translucent pink exterior invites visitors into a dreamlike oasis that encourages social gatherings, echoing the traditional majlis concept with a striking, modern twist.

IWAN PAVILION BY ITHRA

Saudi architects reimagine the Iwan and Muqarnas in this pavilion, using geometric ornamentation and Islamic design principles. With an interplay of light and shadow, it reflects cultural history while utilizing contemporary materials, celebrating architecture’s role in storytelling.

BMW GROUP X AB + AC ARCHITECTS

This minimalist wooden cube installation captures BMW’s dedication to sustainability. Built from plant-based materials, the pavilion supports workshops and discussions, promoting a mindful, “Luxury of Less” philosophy that emphasizes circularity and resource-conscious design.

 A PRESENT/ABSENT MUDHIF BY OLA SAAD ZNAD

Paying homage to Iraq’s Marsh Arab heritage, this reed structure combines traditional craftsmanship with sustainable materials. It serves as a space for contemplation, highlighting the eco-conscious legacy of mudhifs and the connection between cultural preservation and environmental awareness.

MURJANA BY LAITH AL SHIYADI & MOHAMMED AL KIYUMI

Omani duo Laith Al Shiyadi and Mohammed Al Kiyumi are bringing serious creative energy to Dubai Design Week with their installation, Murjana. Inspired by the stunning landscapes of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, they explore the rich layers of nature’s connections. Expect an exhibit that’s as captivating as Oman’s iconic “Green Mountain,” celebrating geology, geography, and the natural interconnections that make our world vibrant.

DEEP JYOTI STAMBH BY RONAK HINGARH

Inspired by Buddhist prayer wheels, this rotating sculpture invites interaction. As visitors spin it, light and shadow shift in mesmerizing patterns, fostering a serene experience that marries cultural symbolism with immersive, reflective art.

NADA DEBS X DE GOURNAY

At Downtown Design, Nada Debs unveils a captivating Majlis for de Gournay, blending her iconic marquetry and brass with de Gournay’s luxurious colors and fabrics. This bespoke salon is a warm, artful nod to Middle Eastern heritage, inviting viewers to experience traditional craftsmanship with a modern twist. Don’t miss their insightful panel talk!

KNOTION BY NIKA ZUPANC

Hands unveils KNOTION, a vibrant carpet collection by celebrated designer Nika Zupanc at Downtown Design Dubai. With ten hand-knotted botanical silk masterpieces, the collection artfully weaves life’s journey through twists and turns, reimagining road knots into luxurious, contemporary designs. It’s a mesmerizing journey underfoot!
