Every October, the world turns pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a vital campaign that aims to educate, empower, and inspire action in the fight against breast cancer. This month serves as a powerful reminder of the impact this disease has on millions of women and their families. It’s a time to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and emphasize the importance of early detection and prevention. By fostering open conversations about breast health and providing resources for education and support, Pink October encourages women to take charge of their health.
This spirit of empowerment and solidarity came to life at the ‘La Vie en Rose’ event in Riyadh, hosted on October 1, 2024, at the luxurious Harnn Heritage Spa within the Intercontinental Durrat Al Riyadh. The evening masterfully blended high fashion, cultural sophistication, and advocacy for breast cancer awareness, aiming to raise funds for the vital work of the Zahra Breast Cancer Association. In a stunning display of unity, the event celebrated not only the strength of Saudi women but also the collective commitment to promoting health and well-being.
The night opened with a heartfelt and informative introduction by Dr. Fatima Al Abbadi, a breast cancer survivor and educator from the Zahra Breast Cancer Association. Her words brought a message of hope and empowerment, urging women to prioritize their health and make early detection part of their routine. Her speech emphasized the strides made in breast cancer treatment and the importance of awareness in saving lives.
As the night went on, Saudi designer Arwa Alammari of ArAm Designs wowed the audience with a stunning retrospective collection. Models, glammed up by local makeup artists and hair stylists, glided across the room to the iconic sound of Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose. The performance, sponsored by Nayomi, celebrated beauty and strength.
The star-studded audience was a mix of royals, VIPs, and influencers. And the hospitality was just as spectacular as the performance. The 300 esteemed guests were treated to a meticulously planned soirée that brought together flavors from Thai, French, and Saudi cuisines, with the generous backing of the Thai Embassy and Pukhet Tourism Office. Each guest left with personalized gifts from Nayomi and Nine West.
The highlight of the event was its message. As part of Pink October, ‘La Vie en Rose’ celebrated the resilience and beauty of Saudi women while reinforcing the need for breast cancer awareness. With the support of partners like Emirates NBD, IHG Intercontinental Durrat Al Riyadh, and others, the event marked a meaningful milestone in the fight against breast cancer—reminding everyone that true empowerment lies in health and wellbeing.
