Camila Morrone‘s effortless charm lights up Chanel‘s Fall-Winter 2024/25 pre-collection campaign, captured by the lens of Karim Sadli. Reflecting on her journey with the brand, Morrone shares, “Being a part of the Chanel family has always been a dream and aspiration of mine. Over the years of working so closely with them for shows and red carpets, we naturally developed a beautiful dialogue and understanding of what version my ‘Chanel essence’ is.”
The black and white photographs bring to life the elegance and sophistication of 1940s Hollywood, a style that captivates Morrone. “I would watch these films in complete awe of the female protagonists, like Rita Hayworth in Gilda,” she recalls. “There was such a seduction, class, and power in the clothes they wore. They looked like true movie stars; they didn’t show too much skin, and yet, they were as seductive as can be. That’s what the French woman does so well.”
Set against the backdrop of a Parisian restaurant, the collection embodies glamour and femininity. Key pieces include a long black openwork velvet dress, a leather outfit, and a silk chiffon top and skirt with a bow motif, all playing with cut-outs and transparency. Chanel’s iconic tweed is reimagined as a vest top with a scoop neckline, while the Belle Époque décor highlights the brand’s signature camellias, embroidered bows, jeweled buttons, and bags with long chains and pearls.
This collection also explores the balance between masculine and feminine elements, a concept dear to Gabrielle Chanel and appreciated by Morrone. “I have always gravitated to classic silhouettes that tapped into subtle femininity. Whether it’s exposing the décolletage or accentuating the waistline. Within that, I still love the feel of a masculine look, the weight of the material and the structure to it. I love the contrast of the two.”
The versatility of the collection is showcased in studio shots where a long coat in velvet with a floral motif elongates a moving figure, and a skirt and short jacket are paired with knee-high leather boots. “It’s young, it’s fresh, it’s strong andmost importantly, it’s effortless,” Morrone says. “All of these looks can so easily go from day to night. It’s a versatile collection that can go whichever way you dress it up.”
