Kim Jones is continuing his love letter to California by celebrating the dusky tones of a SoCal sunset for Dior’s Spring 2023 men’s collection. Reimagining some of the Maison’s signature codes, Jones collaborated with this season’s guest designer, ERL, to envision a maximalist wonderland brought to life through Dior’s savoir faire.
Paying tribute to freedom, the dreamy collection is an exchange between Paris and Los Angeles with references to ocean waves transformed into prints punctuated on sweatshirts and embroidered bermuda shorts, whilst sunset shades are seen in soft swirls of pastel hues gently echoed onto sweaters and jackets make a bold impact and a statement for the season.
The exchange of ideas continues to be adorned throughout accessories too, including Dior’s reinvented icons, cannage, seen in a new quilted version – in satin and leather – on the new B9S skaters and the Dior Saddle Venice Bag.
The iconic Saddle is also reintroduced as an exquisite golden “men’s Minaudiere” composed entirely of metal and quartz. Steeped in Californian style, the arm candy piece transposes the unique atmosphere of Venice Beach in a piece of couture – inviting us all to experience the balance of audacity and refinement.
