Bringing together creative minds from the Middle East, USA, and Singapore, the program features a collaboration with Gushcloud International, a global leader in creator and IP management powered by AI. With Abu Dhabi University as its host, the residency is rooted in cultural heritage, blending local artistry with global expertise to empower the next generation of designers.
ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
The DCAD Fashion and Design Residency champions sustainable design and creative excellence, offering a structured curriculum, mentorship from industry icons, and cultural exchanges. Participants will not only hone their craft but will also contribute to establishing Abu Dhabi as a global fashion hub.
Key Highlights:
- Exclusive to female UAE Nationals and Residents with a foundation in fashion design and a Bachelor’s degree.
- A curated selection of 10-15 participants will embark on this transformative journey starting January 2025.
- Top three graduates will earn a prestigious three-month internship with Oscar de la Renta in New York, beginning January 2026.
Laura Kim, Creative Director of Oscar de la Renta and co-founder of MONSE, will lead the charge with an exclusive masterclass. “This program is a beacon for uncovering Middle Eastern talent and fostering a global fashion dialogue. We’re honored to collaborate with DCAD in shaping the future of fashion,” said Kim.
CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT AND CREATIVITY
The residency culminates in a series of milestone events:
- A Trunk Show in January, showcasing Oscar de la Renta alongside local artisans.
- A Final Exhibition at the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation on Saadiyat Island in October 2025, celebrating participants’ collections and achievements.
