Just days after it was announced that the Met Gala 2020 has been postponed amid the coronavirus outbreak, it seems like the CFDA Fashion Awards are following suit and have had to postpone the event originally scheduled for June 8.
The decision to shift the celebrity-filled event was taken by CFDA Chairman Tom Ford (who took over just last year) and Steven Kolb, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CFDA, along with the full support of the board.
“After carefully reviewing the guidelines of federal and state governments, as well as public health agencies, CFDA chairman Tom Ford and Steven Kolb, president and chief executive officer of the CFDA, along with the full support of the board, made the decision to postpone the 2020 CFDA Fashion Awards,” read an official statement.
“The COVID-19 outbreak is bringing many challenges to fashion designers in both their personal lives and professional operations. As an organization with a diverse membership conducting business globally, the CFDA is doing everything it can to help our designers through these difficult times in their businesses.”
Also, the nominees of this year’s awards are usually announced around this time of year however, the list will now be released at a later date.
As the coronavirus continues to impact the globe, many events have been postponed, including several Cruise ’21 show cancellations, Coachella, Watches & Wonders and the Met Gala.
