The program centers on the theme of "Fierce Grace," the idea of acquiring new knowledge through adversity, fostering a world view that encourages a holistic and positive sense of belonging.

In the wake of the ongoing crisis in Gaza, educating oneself on the Palestinian struggle becomes not just an option but a crucial step toward fostering understanding and empathy. To that end, Cinema Akil is hosting a series of Palestinian films as a part of Alserkal Avenue’s November Art Week, taking place from November 20th to 26th. In collaboration with Reel Palestine, Cinema Akil will screen three Palestinian films for free, transforming Al Serkal Avenue’s courtyard into an outdoor movie theatre.

Movies allow viewers to connect with the human side of the crisis, transcending political boundaries to empathize with the struggles, resilience, and dreams of the people affected. The films featured present an opportunity to witness the impact of conflict on daily life, love, and aspirations in Gaza. These stories not only shed light on the challenges faced by Palestinians but also highlight their unwavering spirit and determination to thrive amidst adversity.

The screening will feature Farha on November 20th, Gaza Mon Amour on November 22nd, and Foragers on November 25th.

While you’re there, make sure to visit the exhibition ‘On This Land,’ which further contributes to this educational journey by creating a contemplative space that encourages informed discussions about Gaza. By exploring the cultural and historical context, attendees can gain a more profound knowledge about the region and its struggle.
