FYI: Urban Decay just discontinued the Naked Palette

You might want to sit down for this...
One of the beauty industry's most iconic products has just been discontinued and we're not really sure how to process the news...

Every now and then, a beauty brand creates a product that becomes legendary. La Mer’s Créme de la Mer, MAC‘s Ruby Woo and Guerlain‘s Terracotta bronzer are among such items; so too, is Urban Decay’s Naked eyeshadow palette.

First released in 2010, the iconic palette has sold over 30 million units since its debut and is a staple in any Sephora store globally, as well as in any makeup kit worth its salt. But, despite having made the brand upwards of Dhs3.7 million since its release, Urban Decay announced this weekend that it was discontinuing the item. Yes, you read that correctly.

Speaking of the decision, Wende Zomnir, the Founding Partner of Urban Decay, said, “Saying goodbye to Naked is extremely bittersweet. It was a big moment in our history. It’s a little painful to leave your past behind but it’s also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss Naked but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in Naked’s memory and honour — just wait and see.”

If you’re a product devotee and can’t bear the thought of not having a palette on hand, we suggest you snap up any you see in the near future before they’re officially gone for good.

However there’s a silver lining to all of this — such a drastic move suggests that something even bigger and better is on its way. And you know it’s going to be seriously good.
